A Personal Statement on Men's Work, Ethics, and Accountability

For nearly a decade, the Minnesota Men's Conference has been an important part of my personal and professional journey. I have been deeply influenced by the community, teachings, and relationships cultivated through this work, including the contributions of Francis Weller to grief, ritual, and healing.

In light of recent allegations concerning Francis Weller and my concerns regarding the organizational response, I have made the difficult decision to resign from the Board of Directors and pause my involvement with the Conference.

As a professional counselor, I recognize the ethical responsibility that accompanies positions of trust, particularly in spaces where vulnerability, intimacy, and personal healing are encouraged. Meaningful contributions do not exempt anyone from accountability or diminish the importance of recognizing power imbalances and potential harm.

I continue to believe in the transformative potential of well-tended men's work. Yet, our ongoing struggle to recognize power dynamics, confront harm, and hold ourselves and one another accountable remains among our greatest challenges.

I step away with gratitude and grief, but also with the conviction that compassion and accountability must coexist. The integrity of our work depends not only on the healing we cultivate, but on our willingness to confront the harm we may cause.
